The Journey

Providing innovative 'Water Saving Infrastructure and Technology' instigated the beginning of AWMA in July 2000 as Brett Kelly and Rick Bilton began exploring ways to assist irrigators achieve greater water control. In April 2004 new shareholders, Murray Irrigation Limited (Australia's largest private irrigation company), strengthened AWMA's capabilities and resources.AMWA today continue to be innovative and responsive to the water industry through its continued research and development and custom design of gates.

Education

AWMA are often asked to present our knowledge to a variety of groups including water authorities, private organisations, primary producers and other interested parties. At AWMA we also host our own events to assist in advancing the uptake of new technologies, discussing research and development programs and progressing water saving initiatives. AWMA support many rural workshops and field days (such as the Elmore District Field Days) in order to showcase our on-farm product range and promote water saving techniques and sustainable farming practices. Industry conferences such as ANCID (Australian National Committee on Irrigation and Drainage) and national exhibitions including OzWater offer AWMA the opportunity to network with other industry professionals and discuss new technologies. We also use opportunities such as these to increase our market awareness and encourage environmentally and economically sustainable water management practices.

Community support

AWMA are the proud sponsors of many local and regional groups. A sound policy for sponsorships and donations is followed to ensure a fair and consistent program for the benefit of regional communities and charity groups. We have a high emphasis on local support for community benefit and are proud to be the major sponsor of our local football and netball club the 'Cohuna Kangas', for the third year in a row. Charities and fundraising events supported by AWMA are community based and usually support education, health and water saving initiatives.
