Features

  • AWMA are dedicated to providing the most appropriate Actuation Systems for all Gate/Penstock designs.
  • AWMA will design turn-key actuation systems to suit our customers´ requirements.
  • System options include;
  • Position Sensing (Analogue or Serial)
  • Limit Switches
  • Torque control / current sensing
  • Remote power systems
  • SCADA connectivity
  • Remote control and monitoring
  • Solid state drives
  • Installation

Control Options

  • Manual Actuation: Manually operated gates and penstocks can be designed with several actuation options depending on the application. Manually operated gates/penstocks may be supplied with either a fixed hand wheel for above ground applications or a removable T-handle for below ground or pit applications.
  • Electric Actuation: Operation of an Electric actuator is simple and straightforward providing the installation and commissioning recommendations have been carried out correctly. Actuator selection is determined by AWMA after revision of the specifications with the relevant actuator supplier to suit each application.
AWMA specialise in solar powered actuation systems but also supply mains powered actuators.
  • Rising Spindles: Rising spindles are connected to the gate/penstock door component; the spindle is operated through a non-ferrous nut located in the actuator. The spindle 'rises' through the nut and extends above the headstock as the door/gate raises.
  • Non Rising Spindles: Non-rising spindles rotate through a non-ferrous nut attached to the gate/penstock door. The spindle is fixed to the drive mechanism within the actuator. The spindle does not protrude above the headstock.
  • Hydraulic and Pneumatic Cylinders: AWMA design and fit site specific hydraulic and pneumatic actuated penstocks.

Applications

Installation

  • Whenever possible all gates and penstocks will be dispatched or installed completely assembled with their actuation system. However, if units have to be dispatched or installed in separate sections, each component will be correctly labelled with reference numbers to facilitate efficient and economical installations.
